Recovered Pets
Some pets I recovered.
A Tale of Two Kitties - Canton - 5-2022
In May 2022, two young sister cats got outside and could not be found. I didn’t have my cat traps available so I had to improvise. The owners and I set up a feeding station on the top of the cat tower which was placed next to the house. I pointed my trail camera at the baited cat tree.
Then we waited. A couple hours later, one of the cats showed up to eat. I called owner and told her to calmly open the door and see if the cat would come inside. I was amazed to hear that she walked inside followed by her sister! The two kitties were safe.

Mason - Canton - 6-2022
Here’s a post to give owners hope and encouragement to keep up the search for lost cats.
On June 21, 2022 Mason - a 1 yr old cat got outside while his owners were on vacation. The sitter searched to no avail. His owners returned from vacation and began their search for him.
They put up signs , handed out flyers, went door to door and put food, water, and some worn clothes out. They posted in the community Facebook group where someone recommended they contact me. They emailed me and I came out with a trap and cameras which we set up in woods behind their house.
A couple neighbors thought they saw Mason in their yards briefly shortly after he went missing.
In middle of night on June 26, he was photographed by the trail camera. Mason stuck his head in the trap, sniffed it, and disappeared again.
Twice a day every day, his owners climbed the steep hill behind their house to rebait the trap and put fresh water next to it.
I got tons of photos all night of mice in and on the trap. Every time the camera notified me of a new photo, I woke up and checked each photo hoping to see Mason. Curiously, no animals except mice visited the trap deep in the woods.
Then a brutal heat wave hit and still no Mason. With all streams dried up, where was he getting water? He wasn’t showing up for water at the trap. Still his owners climbed up the steep hill twice a day to put fresh food and water out for him.
There were camera connection issues due to the location. A couple times everything needed to be moved for better satellite signals. The trap had to be monitored constantly.
The morning of July 22, 2022, the cameras suddenly sent a flurry of photos through all at once. Expecting to see more mice, I opened the app to view the photos. My heart stopped! Mason was in the trap calmly waiting for someone to come get him.
Mason was gone 1 month and he is home because his dedicated family kept at it every day. Sometimes it seemed futile, but they kept going.
Mason is home safe now. His family and I didn’t give up. We got him.

Penny - Simsbury - 8-2022
Penny is an indoor cat who accidentally got outside in Simsbury on August 6, 2022. Once I got involved, I set up cameras and traps. Her owners Diana and Brian were committed to getting Penny back.
Diana and Brian faithfully rebaited the traps, moved them when necessary, put up signs and alerted all the neighbors.
We experienced camera failure. We experienced Penny visiting the trap and not going inside. We got sightings. We didn’t get sightings. It was a rollercoaster.
August 29 was when Penny came to a trap freshly baited with sardines and stepped inside. She was safe!!!
Penny and Mason are two of my summer success stories. Both indoor cats whose owners never gave up putting in the effort to recover the cats.
I guided the owners, provided equipment, and monitored the traps using cameras 24/7. They rebaited trap, moved trap when needed and kept at it every single day.
Sadly I’ve removed equipment twice this summer because owners either gave up or were too busy to put food in the trap. Those cats are still missing.
Mason and Penny are home. Don’t give up on your lost indoor cat so quickly. Both cats were missing a month. They are both home now.

Gemma - Simsbury - 8-2022
Gemma went missing in Simsbury which was an unfamiliar area for her. One of her owners was injured in an accident and Gemma and her brother Blaine were being cared for by friends. Gemma pushed past someone and escaped on August 25, 2022.
I collaborated with another group. We set up a trap and cameras in the area. The community reported multiple sightings of Gemma, but she never visited our trap.
Based on sightings in an area, we moved the trap on August 29. The morning of August 30, Gemma walked down the path and entered the trap ending her adventure!

Loki - Unionville 8-2022
I did not work on this case. However it shows that you should follow up on any leads you get. Loki an indoor cat went missing from Litchfield Rd in Unionville.
His owner did everything to try to find him. No sightings. Then a farmer on Brickyard Rd in Farmington called her about a cat that showed up at his farm.
The distance was pretty far, plus there was the Farmington River to cross. His owner went to see the cat and it was Loki!
He probably got inside a vehicle and was accidentally transported there or someone picked him up and dumped him at the farm.
Sometimes lost pets end up further from home than we expect.
Congratulations to Deana and her Loki.

Lula - Avon 10-2021
Lula who was missing since September 7, 2021 in Farmington Woods was trapped October 13, 2021. Watching the camera and hoping she would go in was suspenseful! She’s finally safe!
She’s an indoor only cat who escaped outside. Her owners were dedicated to getting her back home and worked with me to accomplish that.
I trapped 2 raccoons and fed a lot of wildlife trying to trap her!
