What I Do When Working to Recover a Missing Pet
- Gather information from the pet owner.
- Email owner my agreement.
- Load up my car with necessary equipment. Go to the location and set up equipment.
- Instruct owners on exactly what they need to do. I make myself available to them 24/7.
- Monitor cameras 24/7. The cameras send photos immediately to my phone. My phone alerts me 24/7 of any photos taken. Often photos are taken of wild animals such as squirrels, raccoons, opossum, skunk, birds, deer, bear, coyote, bobcat, and even mice. I wake up every time I get an alert and check the photos that come in looking. I don't get a lot of sleep when I am working a case.
- Go immediately to an area if a sighting comes in that is not near my trap set up. If I hear of a sighting and am available, I get in my car and go.
- If someone tampers with my equipment, I immediately go there to deal with the situation.
What I Do When I Hear about a Missing Pet in my Area
- Share the information on social media.
- Advise on best practices such as - do not chase or call out to a dog.
- Try to monitor sightings that are posted. If I am home, I will even get out of bed to drive to an area where there is a sighting.
- If available, I offer to assist.
- Help as much as I possibly can.
